Confessions of a Transitioner Series: Meet Sashae Hall

How far are you in your transition?
I have been transitioning for over 1 year. My last chemical processing was 10.29.10.

Why did you decide to transition?
I want to liberate my natural beauty. I came to the point where I want to show myself and others that to embrace you naturally is a blessing from the Creator and no one should ever be afraid to be themselves. Also I was tired of the perception that “relaxed hair” is the way to go. I want to be unique and versatile in the way God

When do you plan to BC?
Not sure, I plan to do trims until I’m all natural.

What’s the hardest part of your transition thus far?
During this transition stage I’ve been wearing extensions (to grow out my hair) I still need to gain complete confidence for when I’m 100% natural to be able to wear it & not be afraid. I have overcome the myth that you can’t do much styling when your hair is natural; because “natural hair” is the most versatile.

Who are you hair inspirations?
-Kimmaytube, Chime…

Any hair advice for Newbies?
“Keep your face to the sunshine and you will not see the shadows.” Making thedecision to transition to natural may not be easy. However you need to overlook the negative things you’ll hear from others and be optimistic about what you want. You should have Will-power, Patience, and Commitment & Dedication.

Describe your regimen/wash day routine?
I wash 1x week – I try to maintain a moisture/protein balance so I alternate b/w those treatments each week. I moisturize & seal 1-2x daily. And I henna 1x month.(My complete regimen is on my Hairlista page)

Any product recommendations?
-Products I have used which are great: Elasta QP leave-in H2, Herbal Essence Tousle Me Softly (detangling), Grapeseed oil (sealing). Kimmaytube leave-in. JBCO.
– I usually make hair concoctions: common ingredients are AVJ, EVOO and essential oils.
